Hey, guys! I'm taking off most of today to work on personal projects (i.e. design work and my book). In the meantime, please leave a comment if you have suggestions for either of the following:
- Which book bloggers/vloggers do you think we should reach out to?
- Do you have any additional suggestions for BTFAs? (Remember that they need to have been optioned within the last 6-8 months.)
You can view a list of the adaptations currently up for consideration here.
P.S. I've decided to go with Redbubble (thanks for the suggestion, Gabby!) because they're cheaper than Zazzle. Unfortunately, I'm having some issues with file uploads and am waiting to hear back from tech support.

With regards to book bloggers, I am subscribed to CassJayTuck, she hasn't been active in a few months because she's got her wedding tomorrow and has been busy planning for ages, but if/when she becomes active again I think she would be a good booktuber to go to. She's already done videos following the casting of films, such as Beautiful Creatures and has a fair sized and enthusiastic following. (Like fifty thousand)
ReplyDeleteThe vlogbrothers. John and Hank Green. We had John's book on here once, and I think they would both be willing to help spread the word! (and they have nearly 2 million subscribers)
I think Carrie Hope Fletcher (Tom Fletcher from McFly's sister, also Eponine in the West End if you don't know - nearly half a million subscribers) would be interested, she's not a booktuber as such, but she acts and is really into her reading and occasionally makes videos about books. (and I noticed in loads of her videos that she has all the Uglies books on her bookshelf.... sooo....)
Alex Carpenter too maybe. He's probably better known within the Harry Potter fanbase, but has roughly the same size following as CassJayTuck and loves books of all kinds.
I don't really follow many proper booktubers, these are all the people I can think of right now that we could possibly try reach out to, if I think of any more, I'll let you know!!
As for more BTFA's, I really need to go read some new books.... I know of books that I think would be great of UBC, they just haven't been optioned for film rights... I will do some research and stuff over the weekend and see if I think of anything!!
I'm not sure about CassJayTuck, but the rest of those people sound great! (I can't remember the specifics because this happened three or four years ago, but drama went down on Youtube over something she said about UBC in one of her videos.)
DeleteI had no idea about that.... so I went and looked it up :P Yeah, maybe Cassidy might not be the best idea then, I mean it was 3 years ago, so her opinions may have changed, but you can't be sure.
DeleteAlso would like to say that I've met both Alex Carpenter and Hank Green, and they're both lovely and I think even if they turn out to be not as interested in UBC (which I doubt because they both love books, both massive nerds and both really involved on the internet - (John is too, they both helped set up VidCon, but Hank is slightly more involved)), you could probably guilt them into helping get more publicity anyway :P Also If you do decide to reach out to Carrie, not only does she personally go through all her fanmail and reply to it all, but I could try go talk to her in person as I'm hoping to meet her at Stage Door before she finishes her run at Les Mis. I could probably guilt her into promoting UBC as well :P
(And I was going to do my video for what UBC means to me, but my friends asleep (it's gone midnight and I board, share a room) so I don't want to wake her up. Will film it first thing tomorrow and send it to you straight away!!)
I had another thought. It's not a person, but LeakyNews might be willing to have an article on UBC. They're not just Harry Potter, they follow fan news of every kind, all the celebrities, all the tv shows, films, plays, books, literally anything that there is a fanbase for. They follow casting of big BTFA's as well I think. The people who run it are friends with Alex Carpenter and John and Hank Green, so if we managed to get one of them to talk about UBC, then LeakyNews might be more willing to talk about it too. Even if they don't write a piece on UBC directly, if one of our BTFA's makes any progress into being made into a film, they will probably hear about it and write an article on it anyway, and maybe they would be willing to mention UBC within the discussions of the BTFA. The people who run it are literally all for the fans. Like they created LeakyCon and run all sorts of stuff for fans, they're really connected to fans and projects they do, so I think UBC is something they might actually want to support. What do you think??
DeleteThe YouTubers I can think of are polandbananasBOOKS/polandbananas20 (Christine) and TheBookTuber. Christine does a ton of book reviews and also does short comedy skits so she could be a possibility. As for TheBookTuber, I know he really likes the GONE series and has said in his LIGHT review that he wants to play computer Jack, but I did mention UBC to him before and I never got a reply back... (I think Alice messaged him about UBC as well).
